DAV Membership Eligibility

Who Is Eligible to Join DAV?

You may qualify for DAV membership even if you have never filed a VA disability claim or received a VA disability rating.

You may be eligible if you:

  • Experienced an illness or injury during service

    The illness or injury does not have to be formally recognized as service connected by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

  • Aggravated a previous injury during service

    A condition that existed before service may qualify when military service caused it to become worse.

  • Were not dishonorably discharged

    Your discharge must have been under conditions other than dishonorable.

  • Served during a period of armed conflict

    Direct participation in combat is not required.
